You’re going to love this experience! Discover the musical culture and rich historic tapestry of America’s iconic music meccas, Memphis and Nashville, and see where Blues and Rock & Roll began! In Memphis we’ll stroll along famous Beale Street—a National Historic Landmark lined with bars, restaurants, shops and live music venues. Memphis also means Elvis—her most famous son—and Graceland. We’ll enjoy a morning tour to learn about this musical heritage that ends with a visit to Elvis’ palatial estate—filled with the largest collection of gold records in the world as well as his elaborate stage costumes and jewelry—and his burial site in the Meditation Garden. During your free time this afternoon you might visit the impressive Stax Museum of American Soul Music, the Memphis Rock ’n Soul Museum (a satellite of the Smithsonian), the Gibson Guitar Factory or catch the famous Duck March at the Peabody Hotel! You’ll have a chance to get acquainted with Memphis’ other king: legendary Bar-b-que at a slew of famous BBQ joints such as Charlie Vergos’ Rendezvous, Tops Bar-B-Q, Central BBQ and Neely’s Bar-B-Que. Nashville, where country music was born, has become the new darling of the South; it was one of the most popular international travel destinations of 2014 and ranked #15 on The New York Times list of 52 Places to Go in 2014. We’ll hit the highlights as we visit famous Music Row, Historic RCA Studio B, the Parthenon and the one-of-a-kind Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Nashville’s musical legacy is best preserved at the Grand Ole Opry and we have reserved seats for an evening performance before a day visiting either the Ryman Auditorium or the Johnny Cash Museum.
