Travel to Eastern Europe and discover the diverse culture of these compelling Balkan destinations. In Sofia, Bulgaria we'll meet one of the oldest cities in Europe—founded 2,500 years ago. Described as cool, quirky, chill & laid back, Sofia is onion-domed churches, Ottoman and Russian influences and great street art. Belgrade, Serbia—on the Danube—is “known as the White Phoenix because it's been destroyed and rebuilt so many times,” says CNN Travel. Lonely Planet calls Belgrade “one of the most happening cities in Europe” citing a café culture, great coffee, interesting cuisine and busy nightlife. Travel into captivating Transylvania, Romania—described as “the last truly medieval landscape in Europe.” Discover charming Sibiu, named the 8th most idyllic place to live in Europe. In the Carpathian Mountains we'll visit Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) before arriving in Brasov with its cobblestones and bohemian cafés, medieval watchtowers and baroque churches. Our last stop is Bucharest—with an epic history, a multifaceted ethnic mix, and rich cultural heritage.
