Join The Travel Club on a new adventure to the picturesque Chianti region of Italy where we’ll be charmed by art, culture, wine and the stunning landscape of lush vineyards, olive groves, and cypress trees. We’ll visit famous wineries that have been transformed into authentic art galleries highlighting the combination of art and wine, beautiful medieval villages and see the unique rolling landscapes of Crete Senesi. We’ll have a unique treat that not many experience with our enriching 7-night stay in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of San Gimignano. This hilltop location offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Tuscan landscape and a charming atmosphere of quaint cobblestone streets lined with shops, artisan boutiques and cafes. Enjoy visits to Frattoria Nittardi and wander the sculpture garden and art collection before enjoying a tasting of five wines, olive oil and grappa followed by a light lunch; Castello Brolio – known as the birthplace of Chianti Classico; Tenuto Castelgiocondo who have been producing Brunello di Montalcino since 1800 where our tasting is accompanied by a three-course lunch. Experience guided visits of San Gimignano and Volterra, visit the fortress at Monteriggioni, take a walking tour of Montalcino and visit the Abbeys of Sant’Antimo ad Monte Oliveto Maggiore.

Located on the main square of San Gimignano, Hotel La Cisterna is housed in an elegant, 14th-century building with rooms furnished in the Florentine style. The rooms offer air conditioning, free Wifi and a flat-screen satellite TV. Most rooms at La Cisterna offer views of the square or of the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

Please note that this tour includes a guided walking tours where you can expect to encounter hills, uneven surfaces, cobblestone streets, unpaved roads and stairs. Participants should be able to walk for extended periods, typically around 2-3 hours a day and stand for long periods during the guided tours.
